Creative Nonfiction Writers Conference -- a three-day intensive writing conference focused on both the craft and the business of writing essays, biography, memoir, and narrative nonfiction. The Kaz Conference faculty is made up of award-winning authors, editors, agents and marketing experts – past faculty has included Donna Kaz (author), Madge McKeithen (The New School), Suzannah Lessard (author), Terri Muuss (author), Matt Pasca (author), Rahne Alexander (social media), Jisu Kim (Feminist Press), Lauren Hook (Feminist Press), Sandra Yin (editor), Michelle Blankenship (Blankenship PR), Pramila Venkateswaran (author), Roohi Choudhry (author), Judson Merrill (author), Lily Dancyger (author and editor at Narrative.ly. The Creative Nonfiction Writers Conference is committed to diversity and our faculty reflect an all-encompassing and equal world. Our goal is to challenge, inspire and foster a writers community that continues beyond the workshops.
Just 16 writers will be accepted.
Tuition: $1,250 - includes all workshops (a one hour workshop of 15 – 20 pages of your nonfiction work); opening night reception, guest author talks, publishing/PR panel, craft workshops, social media and productivity seminars and dinner on both Friday and Saturday evenings. The Creative Nonfiction Writers Workshop has secured a discounted group rate of $100 per room, per night at the Southampton Inn (single occupancy). For more information click here.
Please read these guidelines carefully. Submissions that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be considered for the conference.
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION:
1) Creative nonfiction submissions should be at least 14 pages but no more than 20 pages – 12pt font.
2) All submissions must be double spaced and all pages must be numbered.
3) Nonfiction submissions may be excerpts from longer works or a complete piece, so long as the length limit is adhered to. No more than two excerpts please.
4) Put your name on the submission at the top of page 1.
5) Save your submission for upload in a wpd, .doc, .docx, or .pdf as follows: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_TITLE
NOTE: Because of the size of the venue, no guests will be allowed to accompany writers invited to the CNWC. Decisions will be made via email by June 30, 2019.
